Gallary

Details

Date: 19th December 2016

Time: 09:00-17:30

Venue: From Central to Tai Tam Country Park

Aims: To train our strength & Team Building

This activity provides opportunities for business students to understand the commercial environment and culture of Hong Kong and through teaming efforts form a strong bond amongst peers.

The first part of the event is city hunt, In this section, we asked all the participants to form teams according to their functional teams. A total of 5 teams were formed, and each team competed against each together to finish the 9 assigned tasks within the assigned time. We selected the four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY and KPMG China), Commercial Buildings (HSBC, Standard Chartered, Cheung Kong Center), and famous landmarks (HKEX, Former Legislative Council, The Court of Final Appeal). Teams were required to take photos with specific requirements at the selected locations.

After the City Hunt, the first part of the Hiking begins. We changed the beginning location from Central to Tai Koo Plaza. All participants formed the Logistic team formation according to the functional teams. Hiking 1 PM, the project director, the logistic team captain and the HLJ team captain lead the whole hiking team to walk to the Peak. We ended up arriving at the peak at around 13:30. After a 30 minutes break, we start our second part of the hiking section. In this part, we hiked from Central to the Wong Nai Chung Gap. It took only two hours only, we had passed through Black's Link and it is easier than the previous path since most of the road are flat. And we finished at 17:00 before sunset and we are able to go back home in an early time.

Reflections

Lam Ying Sing, Kristopher
I feel great, we go hiking on that sunny day, it was a nice weather with nice view. We can breathe with the fresh air, and enjoy the nature. If we can hike more, it also can train our physical fitness. I think our physical fitness need to improve, the pacemaker actually walked slowly, however, some of them still cannot catch up. Moreover, I think crossing the road is a bit dangerous, we should believe each other and cross the road together rather than decide by ourselves.

The hiking path we took was Hong Kong Island. Given that Hong Kong is an international business center while Central is the main business district, we took the opportunity to learn about this area and to understand the commercial culture with a fun “City Hunt” among the skyscrapers, targeting the office locations of the Big Four. The activity was successful held however there are some reminder: First, the hiking time is quite long as someone fall behind the team but team wanna speed up the pace. Second, the time for lunch are rush that some of us can't finish their lunch.

I think Hiking 1 was a successful event. This is the first time which most of the HLJ participants have an opportunity to participate in a hiking event. For the hiking sections, the team formation could be formed, which we can hike in a mannered way. There are sufficient instructions to ensure safety when crossing roads. During the Hiking sections, I think awareness communication can be further improved. Some of us may not be serious in following the instructions or team formation. Besides, understanding the hiking trail is also very important. This can help to save time and ensure our safety by not going to a wrong trail.
